Made by superstar winemaker Peter-Allan Finlayson (of Crystallum and Gabrielskloof fame) and from a beautiful single vineyard in Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge.
The nose shows cassis, black cherry and star anise alongside the savoury, herbal freshness of fynbos and fennel. The palate is full, vibrant and complex with ripe red plum, more blackcurrant and the sweeter spice of nutmeg and cinnamon as well as a subtle and pleasant pine forest flavours that assert the cool climate origins of the wine – and its maker’s deftness of touch. Taut and lightly waxy tannins and a bright acidity augur well for ageing but this wine is supple and beautifully integrated enough to drink now.
