Patatsfontein Wines, Montagu & Stellenbosch

Patatsfontein1

Patatsfontein is a winemaking venture formed by Reenen Borman of Boschkloof, fund manager Henk Kotze and Fritz Schoon of the artisan goods supplier Schoon De Companje in Stellenbosch.

These guys are the ‘Patatsfontein Wolfpack’ and are on a mission to prove what Montagu as a region is capable of. They are also three of the coolest dudes to have a drink (or many drinks?!) with.

The range currently comprises of 3 single vineyard wines - the Chenin Blanc and the Colombard/Chenin white blend from Montagu as well as the Syrah from Stellenbosch.

The debut 2014 Patatsfontein Chenin Blanc was Tim Atkin’s ‘White Wine Discovery of the Year’ in his previous South African report.

Tim Atkin, Jamie Goode and Christian Eedes have all praised these wines. While volumes of these wines are low, due to the nature of them being single vineyard, we are delighted to represent them and offer them to our trade clients.

Current vintage scores:

2015 Patatsfontein Chenin Blanc
95 points - Tim Atkin MW 94 points – Christian Eedes

2015 Sons of Sugarland Syrah
93 points - Tim Atkin MW

2015 Patatsblanc Colombard/Chenin
91 points – Tim Atkin MW 91 points – Jamie Goode
